What is Rhodiola rosea?

The Greek physician Dioscorides (AD 40–90) first documented this plant in De Materia Medica, renaming it from Rodia riza to Rhodiola rosea, a name inspired by the rose-like aroma of its freshly cut roots. Also known as Golden Root or Rose Root, Rhodiola rosea is a revered adaptogen used for centuries in traditional medicine across the globe.
